Detoxification: Other Ways
For so many today, detoxification has become so important because they feel the need to clean out their digestive system. Now this, they feel, keeps them healthier and happier. However, there are others who ask the question: Is detoxification the only way to clean out the system or can the elimination of toxins be done in other ways as well? Some people tend to feel that some of the detox programs are a bit too rigid and tough for them to follow on a regular basis. Well, detoxification is great for the system and that's why so many people practice it in some form or the other all over the world. But for those who want to look at other options, here are a few.
One of the basic things to do would be to follow a healthy diet on a regular basis. If you can do this and not succumb to the excesses and the damage that junk foods and fatty foods can bring along, then you don't really need the detoxification routine. If you are careful and a little disciplined in your everyday eating, you won't be needing the tough and rigid prescribed detox programs. The reasoning is simple - if you don't overwork your system on a regular basis and treat it well, it doesn't really need the cure or the treatment of detoxification. This could be as simple as switching to free-range meats or cutting out the junk food and replacing it with home-cooked or cutting down on the red meats and adding more vegetables and fruits to your diet. However, a day or two of juices cannot harm anyone and even if you are on a healthy diet, a once in a while juice fast can only make things even better for your body.
If you look eastwards on the planet, you have acupuncture which has been found so useful that it has now taken the world by storm. So much so that even conventional medical practitioners are using it alongside their line of treatment to effect a better cure. Acupuncture is the science of healing with fine needles. These are inserted into certain points in your body called pressure points. When this is done, the body automatically cleans and heals itself. So many people who go for acupuncture treatment regularly are absolutely convinced that their bodies are detoxified and are in a state of health because of that. Unlike detox programs which ask you to go on juice or raw diets for many days at a time, this is quick and according to the acupuncture fans, very effective.
Then comes aromatherapy, the ancient science of healing with essential oils. This too is basically a detox method because it is believed that when you inhale the aromas, it helps your body get rid of the toxins in it. You can use these oils in many ways. You can breathe it in or you can use it in your bath or shower. Aromatherapy oil massages are also very popular. What is generally believed is that these vapors tend to bring the toxins out and expel them through the skin. Here too, one finds that it is a rather easy alternative to going on a fruit or vegetable juice diet and most people prefer the quicker essential oil method to the longer detox programs.
Yes, there are alternatives to the regular detoxification methods. It all depends on the person who wants to be detoxed as to what kind of method will suit him the best. Many people do not want to change their eating habits so for them, alternative methods will do just fine. There are others however who feel better when they have done the regular detox programs.
